As a member, you can accept Chamber Gift Certificates. Your Chamber
decal will help identify your business as one of more than
500 in the Roanoke Valley that will redeem our gift certificates.
In addition, your company’s name appears on the list
of businesses accepting Chamber Gift Certificates that is
given to each person who purchases one. Order here.
Business After Hours
This is a wonderful chance for you to network with your business
peers. A members-meeting-members program, you have the opportunity
to expand your business contacts in a social setting. The Chamber
and our sponsors host approximately ten Business After Hours

Membership Directory
Each Chamber member is listed in our annual membership
directory both alphabetically and categorically. We distribute
our membership directory to more than 10,000 chamber members, area
residents, and newcomers annually.
Referrals
We receive numerous phone calls for information on the available
goods and services in the Roanoke Valley. We proudly refer these
individuals to our Chamber members.
Seminars
In conjunction with Halifax Community College, we proudly offer
seminars, which are geared to helping your
business succeed. Whether you need information on the latest
employment law issues or how to better motivate your staff, Chamber
members have access to dynamic and knowledgeable instructors
who will provide you with the information you need to grow your

Mailings to our Membership
Chamber members can include a flyer in one of our mailings to more
than 950 businessmen and women who are Chamber members. There is
no charge for the initial inclusion in the mailing and only a $75

Economic Development Programs
As a member of the Chamber, your membership dues support our efforts
to attract new business and industry to the area.
Responsive Government
The Chamber’s active Public Affairs Committee consistently
monitors government regulations and legislation that affects area
businesses. After the board adopts an annual legislative agenda,
members and staff work with local, state, and federal officials
to enact legislation to benefit the Roanoke Valley.
Business-Education Partnership
The Chamber serves as a facilitator between the business and education
communities. The Chamber coordinates and sponsors various programs
to help area students explore career opportunities in the Roanoke

Workforce Preparedness
The Chamber, along with the Halifax Co. Department of Social Services,
develops job opportunities for Work First participants. Businesses
can take advantage of numerous services to help them find and retain
employees who meet their needs. More

Business Expo
The Chamber hosts the Roanoke Valley Business Expo, which allows
you to showcase your business. The two-day Expo will increase name
recognition and business exposure. You will be able to network with
hundreds of potential clients. More

How can I be
more involved?
Business Expo Committee — Helps plan the Business Expo,
featuring local goods and services, scheduled for May.
Personnel Manager’s Committee —Addresses issues that
affect all personnel managers, such as the Americans with Disabilities
Act and workplace performance issues.
Leadership Steering Committee — Helps enhance the Leadership
Roanoke Valley program by recruiting individuals for the next class,
chairing program topics, and promoting the Leadership program.
Ducky Derby Committee — Helps plan the Ducky Derby set for
August. Duties can include volunteering, selling tickets, or helping
plan activities.
Hospitality Committee — Holds quarterly meetings to discuss
ways to improve services businesses provide to travelers.
Manufacturers’ Association — Brings together industries
with common concerns and provides a forum to address these issues.
Work First Advisory Committee — Meets every other month
to share Work First information and successes.
Education Committee — Helps develop better business-education
partnerships with HCC and 4 local school systems.
Car Party Committee — Helps plan the Car Party set for November.
Duties can include selling tickets, volunteering, collecting door
prizes, or helping plan the event.
Ambassador’s Committee — Contacts Chamber members
to update them on Chamber activities and special events and looks
for feedback from the members on how the Chamber can serve them
better.
Public Affairs Committee — Meets the last Friday of each
month to discuss issues of concern, such as the Transportation
Improvement Plan, area school systems, local economic development
issues, etc.
